Bishop Hill may need to raise prices it charges for water

The Bishop Hill Village Board is considering raising village water rates.
“I don’t know what is right, but I know we need to increase,” Mayor Mike Funke told the board on Jan. 13.
Currently, different rates exist for residents, organizations, restaurants, and the bed and breakfast.
The board decided to let the water committee meet and make a recommendation at the board’s February meeting. Committee members are Funke, Nore Larson and Fred Dehler.
Clerk Lauretta Nordstrom will also get figures on how many households there are and be able to tell how much revenue is generated.
Board member Wayne Ericson recommended that rates for all categories increase $5 per month.
