The Galva School Board on July 21 accepted the resignation of varsity boys basketball coach Clay Haurberg.

Haurberg, who had held the position for five years, will remain as co-athletics director, assistant high school football coach and junior-senior high school P.E. teacher.

A resignation of his role as co-athletics director was also on the board meeting agenda, but the board met with Haurberg in executive session and only accepted the basketball coach position.

In five seasons at the Wildcats’ helm, Haurberg led the team to a 44-96 record. Year-by-year results were: 2005-06 (12-19); 2006-07 (14-15); 2007-08 (9-18); 2008-09 (3-23); and 2009-10 (6-21).
