Kewaneeans fly to firsts in inaugural CSB run

Eighty-six runners and walkers leave the starting line of the Community State Bank Run for the Schools 5K footrace at Windmont Park in Kewanee on Saturday morning. Jeff King recorded the fastest time in the inaugural event, clocking a 17:43.05. Nicole Wager of Kewanee won the women’s division with a 20:52.07.

Kewanee residents Jeff King and Nicole Wager were the top male and female finishers in the inaugural Community State BankRun for the Schools 5K Saturday morning at Windmont Park in Kewanee.

King became the event’s first champion with a time of 17:43.05, while Wager placed eighth overall and was the top female runner in a time of 20:52.07.

A total of 86 runners and walkers participated in the event, which benefitted the public schools in Kewanee, Galva and Neponset.
