City turns back request to sell alcohol
Carol Townsend
The Galva City Council on Aug. 23 unanimously voted against a request from the owner of the Galva Mansion bed and breakfast for a liquor license.
The council discussed the request, made by Galva Mansion owner Steve Beasanski, at length at their July board meeting and decided to send letters to residents in the immediate area of the facility. Only four homes responded, with one saying they were not for an alcohol license for guests, one was concerned with parking, and one said the facility would need to fence their yard.
The other respondent, who owns a rental house and doesn’t live in Galva, was okay with issuing the license.
The home which was concerned about the fence said B&B guests have walked into their yard.
