The Galva High School girls basketball team won a thrilling 53-51 victory over visiting ROWVA last night, hanging on in final seconds to secure the win.

The two teams, evenly matched, battled all night, with ROWVA leading all the way until Tayler Stewart hit a free throw to put the Lady Cats up 26-25 with 7:33 left in the third quarter. The Tigers seized control again, however, jumping to a 37-27 lead with 1:40 left in the period.

From there, Galva (7-12) worked its way back, keyed by Nicole Withrow's pair of 3s and 2-point bucket, to take the win. The Tigers' last attempt to tie it in the closing seconds went awry.

Maryasa Remick led the Tiger effort with 16 points - all in the second half.

Alex Strom and Withrow led Galva with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
