Annawan will carry the No. 1 seed as the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament begins play this weekend, according to league officials.

Of the Galva News area teams, Ridgewood is ranked fifth in the 11-team tourney, ROWVA is seventh and Galva is ninth.

Tourney play begins on Saturday, Jan. 14. Among games are Mercer County hosting Galva at 3 p.m. and ROWVA hosting United at 4 p.m. For both Galva and ROWVA, a win moves them to a night game Jan. 19 and a loss moves them to a Jan. 18 night game. Opponents will be decided by other games.

Ridgewood begins play in the second round, travelling to No. 4 seed Princeville for a 7 p.m. game Monday night. If the Spartans win, they'll play 6 p.m. against Annawan or the team that beat the Bravettes in their first game. If the Spartans lose their first game, they'll play West Prairie or West Central at 7 p.m. Jan. 18.

The championship, third-place and fifth-place games will all be played Jan. 21 at Stark County.
