A steal and score by Wethersfield's Trey Hannam with nine seconds remaining lifted the Flying Geese to a 46-42 win over Galva in the semifinals of the Class 1A Abingdon Regional Wednesday night.

Galva (22-6) rode 11 first-quarter points from Brady Landis to a 19-12 lead. Wethersfield scored the first eight points of the second frame to grab a 20-19 edge, but two more treys by Landis put the Wildcats up 25-20 at the half.

The Geese went on another run in the third quarter, scoring 11 straight points to go on top 33-29. Wethersfield led 35-34 going into the final frame, but Landis drilled his seventh 3-pointer of the night to put the Wildcats up 37-35.

Seven straight points by Wethersfield put the Geese on top 42-39 with 2:20 left in the game. Landis was fouled shooting a three and knocked down all three tosses to tie the game 42-all with 1:48 to play.

The teams traded missed shots and turnovers down the stretch, with Hannam turning his steal into points with nine seconds remaining. Landis missed a three in the closing seconds for the Cats, and Terry Yelm iced the win with two free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining.

Landis led all scorers with 26 points, including seven 3-pointers.

Devin DeClercq topped the Geese with 18 points.

Wethersfield (18-13) will meet the host and top-seeded Abingdon Commandos in Friday night's title tilt. Abingdon earned its regional title berth by topping ROWVA 45-29 in Wednesday night's opener.

The Geese and Commandos tip at 7:30, with the winner advancing to the Lewistown Sectional.
