In conjunction with their 2017 “On the Same Page” community reading selection, students at Geneseo Middle School will host a Community Round-Up Volunteer Fair.

Local service organizations will be at Geneseo Middle School from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1. Representatives from the organizations will share information about their activities. Members of the public are invited to attend.

“We are hoping to match up both people who need help from these services as well as volunteers who would be willing to help,” said Jeanne Brucher, a teacher and librarian a Geneseo Middle School.

The 2017 “On the Same Page” reading selection was “The Paper Cowboy.” Brucher said the volunteer fair “ties into our theme from the book that ‘some problems are too big to handle alone’ and ‘sometimes helping others is the best way to help yourself.’”

Old cowboy movies will be shown in the cafeteria during the Community Round-Up Volunteer Fair.

Among the groups and organizations planning to attend the volunteer fair are: Sol’s Legacy Ministry, Rebuilding Together, Henry County Humane Society, Aisle of Flags, Backpack Blessings, Geneseo Education Foundation, Geneseo High School Key Club and the On the Same Page student representatives.
