Atkinson mayor says Love's has all needed building permits
All necessary building permits for a new Love’s Travel Stop in Atkinson have been acquired.
“That means they are one step closer to getting started,” said Atkinson Mayor Ken Taber said. “We hope that means they can start this fall.”
Plans are for Love’s to build a new facility at the location of the former Atkinson Plaza. The design for the new travel stop includes a restaurant, 10 gasoline and diesel islands, and a tire shop.
The former Plaza is located along Interstate 80, at the south edge of the village, and the facility has been closed since about 2012.
Original plans were for work to begin after the first of the year in 2019, but Love’s officials told Taber if there is an opening they want to begin work sooner on the Atkinson project
“We are hoping work will begin sooner,” Taber said.
