It will be a world showcase for the 2018 Geneseo High School Marching Band.

The band will perform “Around the World in .008 Days” as its fall show.

The title is a play on “Around the World in 80 Days” said band director Steve Scherer.

The 93-member marching band will perform music from around the world as part of their show.

“Some are recognizable and some are original compositions,” explained Scherer.

The show’s four sections will include “The Olde Country” (Europe), “The Dark Continent (Africa and Arabia), “The Far East and Down Under” (Asia and Australia) and “The New World” (South America and the United States).

Scherer said the audience should expect “a great variety of music, themes they’ve heard before and a little humor.”

The band will be under the direction of senior drum major Lauren Plumley and junior drum major Hayley Nelson.

Band members also will wear new uniforms for the 2018 season. The uniforms were purchased with funds provided by the Geneseo School District and the Geneseo Performing Arts Council.
