Kiwanis Club members, including Bob Mays, Claire Crawford and Jeanne Anderson are shown working at the recent Kiwanis Club’s annual July 4th “Pork in the Park” event, making good use of one of the two tents purchased recently by the Club with memorial funds from the family of the late Dean Urick.

Purchasing tents has been a topic of the Geneseo Kiwanis Club for some time, and recently that became a reality when the club used memorial funds from the family of the late Dean Urick to buy two tents.

Chris Gillet, co-chairman of the Pork in the Park event, said. “In previous years we used tents the Stees brothers made for our club. With the funds from the Urick family we now have two large pop-up tents with the Kiwanis Club logo.”

Gillet said the family of the late Dean Urick gifted the memorial funds for the Geneseo Kiwanis Club to purchase two large tents for their fundraising events.

“Lucille Urick, Dean’s wife, directed the funds to the club,” he said. “She attended many Kiwanis events during Dean’s 21 years with the club.
