Trains, Planes, Automobiles and remembering 9/11

The Trains, Planes & Automobiles got underway on Thursday, Sept. 9, in Geneseo when the Geneseo Airport pilots hosted the annual National Stearman Fly-In. The public was able to experience the sights and sounds of the World War II Stearman Bi-Planes land and take off from the airport. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the National Stearman Fly-in Galesburg. The trip to Geneseo is part of the week-long celebration that takes place each year in Galesburg.
Crowds of people were in downtown Geneseo for the annual Maple City annual Car Show.
Dave Maynard, Matherville, brought his 1963 Chevy Impala to the Maple City Cruisers annual Car Show held in conjunction with the annual “Trains, Planes & Automobiles” event.
Warm temperatures did not keep people of all ages from taking part in the Geneseo Firefighters Association 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday, Sept. 11, in conjunction with the annual “Trains, Planes, & Automobiles” celebration, Sept. 9-11, in Geneseo. It was reported that 206 people participated in the climb held at the bleachers on the Bob Reade Football Field at Geneseo High School.
