Three fire departments battled a house fire Sunday afternoon near LaFayette. The home and contents of Phyllis Armbright and her son Craig were extensively damaged.

The fire was discovered by the owner of the home, Chris Gomes who lives on the other side of the road.

LaFayette Fire Department answered the call at 3:15 p.m. and called Galva and Toulon Fire Department to the scene for mutual aid.

The departments were at the scene until about 7:30 p.m.

The cause is unknown at this time, according to Fire Chief Chris Sherbeyn of Lafayette.

The Armbrights were out of state and had not been informed of the fire as of Monday night.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Department also was at the scene.
