Pamela Lee has been hired as the new Galva School District band instuctor and high school vocal music teacher.

Pamela Lee, who currently resides in Somonauk, has been hired by the Galva

School board as the district's new band instuctor. She will also teach high

school vocal music.

It will be the first teaching job for Lee, who graduated from Somonauk High School in 2004 and from Augustana College earlier this year. She replaces Brian Woods, who resigned this spring to take another teaching position nearer to his home in Canton.

"I'm really excited and can't wait to get started," said Lee, who will be re-locating to this area in the near future.

Lee, who did her student teaching at Aledo High School last fall, says she is looking forward to "working in marching band" again.

"We didn't have a football team in high school, but we got to march in parades and other events," she said. "Then I got to work with it while I was student teaching at Aledo and it was great to be involved in it again."

Although it was too late to hold a summer band camp this summer, Lee plans to conduct one next summer.

"It's pretty hard to set up a camp this late, but we will be having rehearsals in August, to get ready for the first football game (Aug. 29).

In addition to participating in band in high school, Lee was involved in choir, scholastic bowl, golf and softball. She says still likes to play golf. as well as being performing in musicals.

"I'm really excited about coming to Galva," Lee said. "I know they have a good music program established. I have heard nothing but good things about what Brian and what he did here."
