GHS looks to homecoming week
Galva High School will celebrate its 2008 homecoming the week of Sept. 22-27. “Game Shows/Reality Shows” is the theme.
GHS student council members have begun working on activities.
Student council and National Honor Society members will be painting windows of area busineses on Sept. 20-21. High school students will observe Spirit Days each day of the week.
Other activities include a boys volleyball tournament and a girls “powder puff” football game, and each class will work on a float and skit to correspond with the theme.
The community is invited to a pep rally and bonfire on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. The pep rally will include skits and the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.
Friday, Sept. 26 will be a full day of activities as the high school classes will compete in their version of the Olympics at the football field about 12:30 p.m.; the parade will start by the elementary school at 2 p.m.; and the football game will kick off against West Central at 7 p.m.
Homecoming court and class floats will tour the football field at halftime of the game. The week ends with the homecoming dance on Saturday, from 8 to 11 p.m., in the high school cafeteria.
Area businesses and community members who would like to participate in homecoming activities by judging floats and/or skits, being a part of the parade or having their windows decorated, can contact any student council member or Lee Hoovey at the high school, 932-2151, ext. 235.
