JH scholastic squad splits in Mercer County

The Galva Junior High scholastic team split a pair of matches at Aledo on March 19.

Aledo, which has a seventh grade team and an eighth grade team, usually plays two matches, so Galva, which has just one team, split up into two units and competed.

In the seventh grade match, Galva was defeated 294-69. Participating for Galva were Katelyn Klein (captain); Max O’Riley, who scored one toss-up question; Jonelle Humphrey, who registered two toss-up questions; and Taylor Klein and River Aguirre.

Galva won the eighth grade match 287-188. Playing for Galva were Rachel Holt, captain, who scored one toss-up; Ryan Amerman, with five toss-ups; Luke North, four toss-ups; Matt Bersell, four toss-ups; and Donel Samuel.

Galva ends its season today (March 26), competing against Stark County.
