Dobbels among trio of 4-H Foundation honorees

Austin Dobbels of Galva is one of three winners of a scholarship from the Henry County 4-H Foundation.

Henry County 4-H members Jamie Anderson, Austin Dobbels and Rachel Orton have been named 2009 Henry County 4-H Foundation Educational Award Scholarship winners.

The $500 scholarship is available to incoming freshmen at a college, university, junior college or technical school. Scholarship recipients are selected based upon 4-H activities, scholastic achievement, community service, school activities and financial need.

Dobbels is a 2009 graduate of Galva High School. He plans to attend Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, to major in ag biochemistry or computational biology.

Dobbels is the son of Lanny and Diane Dobbels of Galva. He is a member of the Cambridge Champs 4-H Club.

Anderson is a 2009 graduate of Geneseo High School. She plans to attend the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she’ll major in business.

Anderson is the daughter of Gene and Cheryl Anderson of Geneseo. She is a member of the Geneseo Junior Leaders 4-H Club.

Orton is a 2009 graduate of Geneseo High School. She plans to attend Illinois State University, Normal, where she’ll major in business.

Orton is the daughter of Jeff and Mary Orton of Geneseo. She is a member of the Geneseo Maple Leafs 4-H Club.
