Title change for Galva school official
The Galva School Board made a language change in the contract of Elementary Principal Doug O’Riley on Jan. 25, naming him assistant superintendent of Galva School District.
Under his new title, O’Riley will have some added duties but not additional financial compensation. He is working on furthering his education in administration. The added responsibilities will be part of his required education.
In other business at Monday night’s board meeting:
*Shawn Kendall was hired as the high school boys track head coach, and as part-time RTI teacher.
*Co-athletic director Clay Haurberg was present and asked the board consider co-oping high school volleyball and girls basketball with Williamsfield. He said Galva is starting to face a lack of players and it would give the teams more opportunities.
*Board President Gary Edmonds reported there had been a water leak around an air conditioner, causing some floor damage in the high school gym over the holidays. He said repairs have been completed.
