Galva and AlWood students bring home firsts from FFA events

Matt Johnson of Galva, who won Reserve Champion Female, is seen competing in the Section III FFA/Vo-Ag Fair. He is one of several Galva and AlWood students who won first place in various categories at the fair or at the Section III Horse Show.

Galva and AlWood students won awards at the annual Section III Horse Show held July 1 at Black Hawk College – East Campus. and the Section III FFA /Vo-Ag Fair, held July 2 at the Henry County Fairgrounds in Cambridge.

AlWood (A) and Galva (G) winners included:

Horse Division

Reserve Champion Speed Events – Cheyenne Miles (A)

Goat Division

Grand Champion Best of Show – Dana DeSutter (A)

Beef Division

Reserve Champion Female – Matt Johnson (G)

Crops Division

Floriculture Champion – Matt Johnson (G)

Floriculture Reserve Champion – Matt Johnson (G)

Vegetables Reserve Champion – Matt Johnson (G)

Swine Division

Reserve Champion Gilt – David Larson (A)

Plaques were awarded to Grand Champions, and ribbons to all participants.
