C.R. Hanna registration to be Aug. 4 and Aug. 5

Elementary school students new to the Orion district will register Tuesday, Aug. 3, at C.R. Hanna Elementary School.

All other students, including pre-kindergarten students, will register Wednesday, Aug. 4, and Thursday, Aug. 5, at Orion Middle School.

On Aug. 4, registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

The next day, registration will be from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

No one will be allowed to register early. Anyone unable to register on Aug. 3, 4 or 5 should phone the office at (309) 526-3386.

Teachers’ institute will be Monday, Aug. 16.

From noon to 6 p.m. on Aug. 16, kindergarten students will have individual classroom visits.

All pre-school students and their families are invited to Backpack Night any time from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 16. During the open house, students will meet their teachers and classmates, choose their desks, put their supplies away and look around their classrooms.

School for kindergarten through fifth grade will begin Tuesday, Aug. 17, with a half-day from 8 to 11:22 a.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 18, will be the first full day. Students will be in the building from 8 a.m. until 2:49 p.m. for bus riders and 2:55 p.m. for walkers.

Pre-kindergarten classes begin Monday, Aug. 23. Sessions will be from 8:10 to 10:40 a.m.

Registration details

Children entering C.R. Hanna for the first time must have a birth certificate from a county or state. Hospital birth certificates are not official.

To enter kindergarten, students must be 5 years old before Wednesday, Sept. 1.

School supplies

A list of C.R. Hanna supplies will be posted on this website on Aug. 3.

Parents who ordered Back-to-School Packs may pick them up during registration.

Orion Lions Club is providing free school supplies for students in the district who qualify for the book fee waiver.

During registration, a school supplies form will be attached to the book fee waiver form. If a child is eligible for the book fee waiver, parents must fill in the school supplies form and turn it in at registration.

C.R. Hanna supplies will be distributed before school begins.

Class lists

This year class lists will not be posted during registration.

Instead, they will be on the windows near the main entrance of C.R. Hanna beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6.

Also, the class lists will be on the school website (http://orionschools.us/) for a short period.

Fees

Fees must be paid or other arrangements made before school begins on Aug. 17. Checks are to be made out to C.R. Hanna Elementary School.

For kindergarten through fifth grade, fees total $90, including:

Assignment notebook with academic folder, $3; textbook rental, $50; science fee, $5; testing fee, $10; technology fee, $12; and activity fee, $10.

For the early childhood program, fees add up to $60, including:
