Galva-Williamsfield co-ops grow by 4

Galva and Williamsfield high schools will add to the co-ops they currently have for football and baseball following an Aug. 5 meeting of boards from both districts. Seen from a Galva-Williamsfield football game last season are Harry Hergert (45) and Jake McClintic (19).

The Galva and Williamsfield school boards met at a special school board meeting last Thursday night to take action on more co-oped sports.

Both boards unanimously voted to co-op four high school teams – boys and girls track, girls basketball and softball – for the 2010-11 school year.

The Williamsfield board wanted to hold off on co-oping high school boys basketball and volleyball at this time. Galva athletic director Clay Haurberg and Williamsfield athletic director Bob Anderson were present and said they would look at those sports for the 2012-2013 school year.

Williamsfield and Galva have co-oped junior high and high school football for two years. They’ll do it again this year, joining ROWVA to form a Mid-County co-op.
