The Ridgewood Spartan Booster Club is planning its second annual golf outing Saturday, Aug. 7, at Valley View Club, rural Cambridge. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The outing is limited to 144 players with a four person best ball format. For more information, contact Michelle Steider at 714-0927. Getting ready for the event are Andrew Steider and Kalli Humphrey, two students who play sports for Ridgewood.

Tickets are on sale Monday for the J. Kyle Braid Golf Play Day to be held Saturday, June 4, at Kewanee Dunes.

Last year the youth leadership organization which has chapters in six Henry County high schools, dropped golf balls from a helicopter at The Dunes with the one coming closest — or landing in — the hole declared the winner.

This year, the event has been expanded to include a golf play day.

The golf ball drop and play day will begin at 8 a.m. with the play day continuing to 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at high schools which participate in the JKB program: Kewanee, Wethersfield, Annawan, Cambridge, Geneseo and AlWood; and at Kewanee Dunes on Midland Road.

Each summer two to four boys and girls from each high school are selected to attend the one-week J. Kyle Braid Leadership Ranch in Colorado.

The golf ball drop and play day is one of the major fund-raisers which supports the program.
