E-waste is classified as anything electronic in nature, such as computers, monitors, printers, radios, VCRs, lamps, vacuum cleaners, batteries, speakers, toasters, window air conditioners, copiers, fax machines, humidifiers, etc. No televisions will be collected.

The first collection will be from 9 a.m. to noon May 21 at the old engine grounds near the Atkinson?Township building.

The collection will take place at the same location on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.

E-waste will go to VetTech US, which provides professional training for veterans.

All equipment that is refurbished through the program is given away to charities including schools, youth homes and assisted living centers. Income generated by the sale of processed materials is used to support the VetTech US program.
