Class focuses on how to create great resumes

Black Hawk College will host a free class on how to prepare a winning résumé from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 30 at the college's Community Education Center at 404 E. Third St., Kewanee.

"Helping people get back to work or prepare to advance their career is what this public workshop is all about," said Sharon Smith, workshop presenter and English instructor at the college's East Campus. "We will cover the basics and some special tips which will help people land an interview."

A résumé is a really a personal marketing device which should present a person's background in a way that will interest the employer. This workshop will help area job seekers increase their job-search effectiveness.

A "Jobs Book" – complete with area job postings – is kept at the Community Education Center and will be available to review.

Advance registration is appreciated but not required. For more information or to reserve a spot, contact the Community Education Center at 309-854-1875 and ask for Deb.
