Newcomer Deahl joins field of Galva council candidates

Galva's City Hall is where the Galva City Council holds its monthly meetings.

Caucuses for the Peoples Party of Galva were held Monday night, with four people nominated to represent the party as Galva City Council candidates in the April 2013 election.

Nominated were:

First ward – Dwren Boston (2-year term) and Jayme Hopping are both incumbents. Boston is completing a term formerly held by Pup Dennison, who resigned when he moved from the ward.

Boston and Hopping each received 12 votes at the caucus. No other candidates opposed them.

Second ward – Dougie Anderson (4-year term). Anderson is an incumbent. He received eight votes, with no opponents presented.

Third ward – Charles Deahl (4-year term). A newcomer, Deahl received 9 votes, and was unopposed. He seeks the seat currently held by Norm Boston, who chose not to run for re-election.

Other candidates could still arise before the election. They would need to run as independents, and would have to first file paper work (petitions bearing voters' signatures) with Henry County. Those papers can both be picked up and filed at Galva's City Hall. Filing dates are Dec. 18-Dec. 26.
