Snow and cold likely, then better temps Friday through Monday - weather service

The Galva area could receive four inches of snow or more Thursday, Feb. 21, followed by slightly warmer temperatures, according to the National Weather Service today.

After a sunny afternoon today, the NWS is saying snow should arrive at Galva on Thursday, mostly after 3 p.m. A heavier snow Thursday night could produce 4 inches.

Here's the current National Weather Service forecast for Galva:

This Afternoon - Sunny, with a high near 22. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight - Partly cloudy, with a low around 10. Wind chill values as low as zero. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday- Snow, mainly after 3pm. High near 29. Breezy, with a east wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Thursday Night - Snow before midnight, then snow likely, possibly mixed with freezing drizzle. Low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of around 4 inches.

Friday - Areas of snow and freezing drizzle before noon, then a chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Saturday - Partly sunny, with a high near 28.
