Galva officials mulling fire station expansion idea
The Galva City Council heard a presentation Monday night about a proposed addition to the Galva fire station.
The addition, a steel structure, would have five bays in its 7,600 square feet. It would have radiant heat and no plumbing.
Located about five feet west of the current station, a breezeway would join it to the station to allow access to rest rooms, office and washer and dryer, which are all in the current station.
The estimated cost is $507,000.
The council is mulling the project. It has not made a decision.
Tim Hoftender of Point Builders made the presentation. He said that if the city has interest in building the structure, he could check into low-interest loans, or seek a grant.
