More details on yesterday's accident released


The Henry County Sheriff's Office has released a little more information about an auto accident that claimed the life of a Galva man west of here yesterday.

According to the sheriff's office, Gale Blair, 47, of Cottageville, S.C., was the driver of the semi truck which collided with a car driven by Jacob Grabbe, 21, about two miles west of Galva on Routes 34/17. Blair was transported to Kewanee Hospital by Stark County Ambulance Service.

The eastbound Grabbe car, a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, drifted over the centerline and collided with the 2012 Volvo semi tractor and trailer in the westbound lane, authorities said today.

The accident happened about 1:07 p.m. Grabbe was pronounced dead at the scene by the Henry County Coroner's Office at 2:19 p.m.

The mishap remains under investigation by the sheriff's department.
