Charlene Collinson obituary
Charlene Jeanette Collinson, 79, of Victoria, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at her home.
She was born on May 14, 1934 in Patricia, Texas, the daughter of James and Nina Caveness Woosley.
She married Phillip Gene Collinson on June 17, 1956 in Victoria. He survives.
She is also survived by three daughters, Elaine (Bob) Curry of Oneida, Vicky (Danny “Buzzard”) Cantwell of Kewanee, and Kim (Clay) Locke of Victoria; 11 grandchildren, Rebecca Curry, Angela (Cesar) Jimenez, Marc Curry, Pauline Curry, Shannon Lee (Kathy) Cantwell, Jason Michael (Janie) Cantwell, Christine (Curtis) Peed, Cody Locke, Clayton (Daleann) Locke, Jennifer Locke and Brad (Lacy) Locke; 17 great-grandchildren, Elena, Emma and Thalia Jimenez, Dylan, Jacob, Timmy, Phillip, Ryan and Chase Cantwell, Junior and Kyler Sward, Kelton and Brett Locke, Tyler and Katie Chase, and MaKayla and Austin Locke; and four sisters, Grace (Don) Morlan of McClair, Colo., Frances Phillips of Dallas, Texas, Faye (Don) Weber of San Antonio, Texas, and Barbara (Tommy) Hinsley of Flower Mound, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bill Woosley, and three sisters, Louise Gilbert, Hazel Marlow and her twin sister, Earlene Barnett.
Charlene had worked as a licensed practical nurse at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg for 22 years.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Galesburg and was a member of the Ladies Bible Study.
She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and vacations to Branson and Texas. She loved and found great joy in her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed sewing, quilting and doll making. She also enjoyed making her own clothes as well as for her family, especially dresses for special occasions. She was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Charlene will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. Pastor LeRoy Torres will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery.
