DONALD D. 'DON' KEMP

Donald D. “Don” Kemp, 79, of Galva, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.

He was born Dec. 4, 1934 in Wenona, the son of Horace and Iva (Gustafson) Kemp.

He married Nancy S. Cresto on Dec. 26, 1955 in Wenona. She dieD on July 5, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Mark (Teresa) Kemp and Tim (Deb) Kemp, both of Galva; two brothers, Dick (Marilyn) Kemp of Phoenix, Ariz. and Bob (Jody) Kemp of Poplar Grove; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Ginger) Knowles, Justin (Jessica) Knowles, Dustin (Ruth) Lee, Mackenzie (Jake) Hankins, Melissa (Andrew) Skouge, Bryan (Rebecca) Kemp and Spencer Kemp; and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, David in infancy; a sister, Joan Timmerman; and a brother, Jerry Kemp.

Don graduated from Wenona High School.

He served his country in the Air Force during peace times between the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He was a carpenter, owning and operating Don Kemp Construction.

He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Galva.

He enjoyed mowing, being outdoors and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Private services were held at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Linda Winkelman officiated. Burial was in Galva Cemetery.
