Mary Jane Resseguie, 85, a resident of Hillcrest Home near Geneseo, formerly of Galva, died at 7:48 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo.

She was born June 6, 1930 in Galva, the daughter of Albert and Adolphie (Palmer) Finbraaten.

She married Robert R. Resseguie on May 1, 1954 in Adams, Minn., and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2005.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas and Scott Resseguie, both of Galva; a daughter, Jane (Kevin) Collins of Morton; three grandchildren, Raymond Resseguie and Kevin and Marin Collins; a sister-in-law, Mary Finbraaten of Adams, Min.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ronald and Robert, and a nephew, Mike Finbraaten.

Mary Jane graduated from high school in Adams, Minn. and from Bethesda School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minn. She had worked as a registered nurse for Veterans Hospital in South Dakota, Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Kewanee Hospital, Petersen Healthcare and Hillcrest Home.

She was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church and lifelong Cubs fan. She enjoyed bingo, sewing, baking cookies and especially spending time with her family.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Linda Winkelman will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Galva Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Messiah Lutheran Church Sunday School Program or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
