Altona sets clean-up day guidelines

Carol Townsend, For The Galva News

The Village of Altona will have clean-up day on Friday, May 4.

All items must be on the curbside by 7 a.m. The clean-up trucks will only go around once, so please have all items out on time.

Large items need to be broken down. Small items need to be in bags or bundled. There is no regular garbage collection on clean-up day.

There will be no items taken over five feet in length, except for sofas and couches.

There is no collection from out-of- towners.

Items that will not be picked up on the curbside are tires, batteries, oil, fuel, automotive parts, hazardous items, all electronics, appliances, structural tear downs, concrete, asphalt, landscaping, tree limbs, brush and grass clippings. If anyone has any questions, call (309) 879-2613.

In addition to the clean-up curb side service, the Village of Altona will collect used and outdated electronic devices, as well as used tires.

Electronic devices will need to be taken to the east side of the village hall for collection.

The collection of used car tires and light duty truck tires can be taken to the TBA in the village at no charge for village residents.  Identification to prove you’re an Altona resident is required.

There will be a service fee for any tires that need rims removed from them, and a fee for tires that were used for sandboxes.

The collection for these items will be conducted from May 4-10.
