Doug Anderson will be the People’s Party candidate for Galva mayor in the April 2019 election.

Anderson, who served on the Galva City Council for 21 years, received all 37 ballots at the caucus held Monday night at City Hall.

Anderson and Rich Volkert — who will run as an independent in April — will face off for the four-year term to succeed Rich Nordstrom as Galva’s mayor.

Also unanimously nominated by the party for four-year terms were Debbie VanWassenhove for city clerk and Dee Bersell for treasurer. Both VanWassenhove and Bersell are incumbents.

The results for the three People’s Party ward caucuses were:

First Ward — Mitch Boston with seven votes. Boston was recently appointed to the city council to fill the unexpired term of his father, Dwren.

Second Ward — Rick Otterstrom with 11 votes.

Third Ward —Incumbent Bev Everett with 24 votes.

All three alderman positions are four-year terms.
