Cambridge Main Street to host a hog roast on July 10
Cambridge Main Street would like to invite Cambridge residents to join in a community hog roast summer celebration in College Square Park on Saturday, July 10.
The event is being planned as an old-fashioned picnic and a way to bring people together for a day. The hog roast offers an occasion for friends and family to enjoy a great meal and have fun.
The pulled pork dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. The meal consists of a pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, baked beans, chips and a dessert. Assorted beverages will be available.
Children and their parents will be able to enjoy the afternoon by playing games in the park or using the park equipment in the play area. Main Street will provide several kickballs, mini footballs, jump ropes, frisbees and sidewalk chalk. There will also be an opportunity to play frisbee ball or have gunny sack races for anyone wanting to participate.
The Cambridge Main Street board and committee members are encouraging people to come and spend the day together. In case of rain, the meal will be served at the Community Hall.
Following the picnic, the day will end at dusk with a movie in the park sponsored by the Village of Cambridge and C-Sac.
“We would like to thank to Leonard Boelens and Spike Edmund for donating a hog for this event and Dean and Bonnie Talbott for their sponsorship,” stated Deb VanDeWoestyne, program director. “Thanks also to the volunteers for their time and effort.”
