Dreaded disease whiffs in Strike Out Cancer softball game

Each player and coach on both the Orion and Rockridge rosters dedicated the Strike Out Cancer game on Friday, April 29, to someone who had cancer, had survived the disease or had succumbed to it. Orion softball player Kylie Smutzer and her mother, Jennifer Smutzer, organized Strike Out Cancer for the varsity and sophomore games with Rockridge on Friday, April 29. To raise funds for the Quad Cities chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, participants sold more than 350 T-shirts and numerous wristbands. Sales of 50/50 tickets climbed over $1,200 before the drawing.
