Cambridge to host Memorial Day service

    The Memorial Day services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, in Cambridge Community Hall.

    Dwaine VanMeenen, Cambridge Village Administrator, will serve as master of ceremonies.

    Cambridge American Legion Post 417 will advance colors.

    Pastor Steve Kettlekamp of Cambridge United Methodist Church will give opening and closing prayers.

    Directed by Chris Allen, the Cambridge High School band will play “This is My Country,” “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

    Dick Detmer of Geneseo will give the address.

    Detmer is active in honoring Henry County veterans, and he has been very active in Honor Flight, an organization that flies veterans to see memorials in Washington, D.C.

    Cambridge American Legion Unit 417, War Mothers Inc., Daughters of the American Revolution, Henry County Sheriff’s Department and Cambridge Fire Department will be recognized during the service.

    Cambridge American Legion Auxiliary will place a poppy wreath on the Soldier’s and Sailor’s monument in the northeast corner of the Henry County Courthouse square.

    Samantha Stevenson and Katie Stevenson then will play “Taps.”
