At the Tuesday, June 12, Henry County Board meeting, members heard from Donna McClain of Colona seeking the board’s help about a “party house” in a garage 38 feet from her home.

McClain told the board that the neighbors rev up their stock cars and make excessive noise. She said she has contacted the sheriff’s and state’s attorney’s offices, and was told to appeal to the board.

Visits from the authorities have emboldened the neighbors, according to McClain, and have made the problem worse. The couple recently took a three-week vacation to get away from the stress of dealing with the noise.

Board member Kippy Nelson asked the public safety committee to look into the problem.

Jim Taylor of Carpentier, Mitchell, Goddard and Co. presented the Nov. 30 auditors’ report, noting that cash balances are up overall, from 2010 to 2011. More than $1 million has been generated from wind turbine building permits, though the health department has about a half million dollars less due to a decline in government funding.

Board member Karen Urick said it was good for the public to know that revenues outpaced expenses.

    In other business:

•The board reappointed Bill Dale and Steve Durian to the Hammond-Henry Hospital District Board.

    • The board appointed Julie Atwell to the Hammond-Henry Hospital District Board.

    • On a vote of 16-6, the board reappointed Jim Eccher to the Henry County Board of Review. Eccher thanked the board for their support.

    • The board approved the purchase of a half-ton truck at a cost of $19,968, and a three-quarter-ton pickup for $20,270, both from Gustafson Ford in Kewanee.

    • The board briefly discussed wording for a possible advisory referendum to be placed on the Nov. 6 ballot concerning a concealed-carry gun ordinance. The Public Safety Committee will vote on ´´the issue at their July meeting.

    • It was noted that the county’s new Web site, has been completed and is ready for use.
