Jim Watson, history teacher.

Why did you choose this subject or this grade level?
I like being active. I wanted to coach, and this allowed more contact.
What were your biggest challenges as a teacher?
Teachers being guilty until proven innocent.
We negotiate with kids. We do not discipline.
How did you handle them?
Not very well.
What teaching moments have been the most memorable in your career?
Watching young people mature and be successful.
Watching young people overcome the odds and succeed.
What are your plans for your retirement?
Golf, fishing, playing with grandkids.
Continuing to work for Rock Island County Highway Department (29 years in).
Education Master’s degree plus eight.
Experience 34 years, all at Orion.
Hobbies Golf, fishing, sports.
Family Wife, Mona; children, Jamie, Larissa, Josh and Sami; four grandchildren.
