Who inspired you to become a teacher?

My eighth grade basketball coach.

Why did you choose this subject or this grade level?

I enjoy working with kids at this age level.

What were your biggest challenges as a teacher? How did you handle them?

To challenge students to go beyond just being satisfied, but to have them excel at their highest level.

Implementing new teaching strategies.

What teaching moments have been the most memorable in your career?

When student athletes reach their goal due to their hard work and perseverance.

What are your plans for your retirement?

Travel and help different organizations in the Quad Cities. Possible missionary work, depending the direction the Lord Jesus directs me.

Education Illinois State University, 1979. Master’s degree, Olivet Nazarene University.

Experience Orion school district, 33 years, 1979-2012. OHS?head track coach, 10 years for boys and 23 years for girls. Football coach, 10 years at OHS and 22 years at Orion Middle School.

Hobbies Cooking, softball, golf, gardening.

Family Wife, Linda, 33 years. Son and daughter-in-law, David and Aimee, and three grandchildren. Daughter, Emilie, teaching in Cambodia.
