Galva tankers perform well

Galva members of the Lake Bracken Country Club Blue Wave Swim Team fared

well in two recent meets.

The Blue Wave defeated the IVY Club, 311-105, in a dual meet on June 26 in Galesburg.

Laurin Hopping, competing in the 8-under girls division, placed first in the 25 butterfly and the 25 breaststroke and was a member of the winning 100 medley relay and 100 freestyle relay foursomes.

James Hopping (11-12 boys) competed on the Blue Waves' winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams.

The Blue Wave competed in the Sterling USA swim meet this past weekend. This meet featured some of Illinois' and Iowa's top swimmers.

Galva brothers Mike and Matt Bersell participated for the Blue Wave.

Mike finished third place in overall points in the boys' 9-10 division. His results were: 50 freestyle, third; 100 freestyle, third; 200 freestyle, third; 50 butterfly, fifth; 50 backstroke, sixth; 100 backstroke, fourth; 100 breaststroke, third; and 200 individual medley, fifth.

Matt's results were: 50 freestyle, eighth; 100 freestyle, eighth; 100 breaststroke, seventh; 200 breaststroke, eighth; and 200 individual medley, ninth.
