Galva gymnasts perform well at nationals

Five Galva youths competed in the 2008 United States Trampoline and Tumbling Association (USTA) National Championship held June 17-21 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were Brooklyn Taylor, Brandy Balenseifen, Parker Taylor, Allison Hagerty and Matt Hagerty.

All five are members of the Patti’s Gym team in Kewanee, coached by Sarah Oldeen and Mandi Huber.

There were 137 teams and 2,120 athletes participating at Nationals. The events ranged from beginner trampoline, tumbling, and double mini trampoline to elite levels in all three categories.

Brooklyn, Brandy and Parker are the children of Dave and Jennifer Taylor. Parents of Allison and Matt are Amy and Todd Hagerty.

Results of the Galva participants were:

Brooklyn Taylor – Tumbling Sub beginner girls 4-year-olds, 24th, and Double Mini, 10th

Brandy Balenseifen – Double Mini beginner girls 12-year-olds, 13th, and Trampoline, 11th

Parker Taylor  – Tumbling  beginner boys 5-6-year-olds, 6th; Double Mini, 3rd; and trampoline, 10th

Allison Hagerty – Tumbling Sub Novice 11 year olds, 9th, and Trampoline intermediate girls 11-12-year-olds, 6th

Matt Hagerty – Trampoline Beginner boys 7-8-year-olds 5th, and Double Mini, 3rd
