Softball tourney to aid son's education fund

A Ben Collins Memorial Co-Ed Slow-pitch Softball Tournament will be held Sept. 13 at the Bishop Hill diamond.

Collins, a 1994 Galva High School graduate, died July 3, 2008, in an electrical accident in Kirksville, Mo.

Depending on the number of teams, the tourney could also be played the following day.

A concession stand will be available with pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, soda and baked beans on sale. A silent auction will also be held during the tournament.

Entry fee is $150 per team. To enter, call 932-4013.

All proceeds from the event will be directly deposited into an education fund for Collins’ son Brayden at Community State Bank in Galva.
