Upsets domimate Valley View semifinals

Upsets abounded in the semifinals of the Men’s League playoffs on Wednesday evening, Aug. 13, at Valley View, Cambridge.

DeGroots and Skellos met in one semifinal. Only three weeks earlier, DeGroots had pulled off an upset that ended Skellos hopes of an undefeated regular season.

In the semifinals, sixth-seeded DeGroots upended Skellos 139-144.

DeGroots had balanced scoring, with Diz Gainey contributing a net 34 and Nate Bolhous, Paul Bolhous and Dennis Stulir chipping in net 35s.

In the other semifinal, #8 seed Little Johns overcame #4 seed CAmbridge Pattern 140-149.

Little Johns captain John Catour carded a net 30.

The schedule for Wednesday, Aug. 20, had DeGroots and Little Johns playing for first place and Skellos and Cambridge Pattern for third place.
