Galva netters still seeking first "W"

The Galva High School volleyball team is still searching for its first win after falling to host Aledo on Monday night, 25-18, 25-12.
The Lady Cats (0-6) couldn’t contain the serving of Aledo’s Courtney Bennett, who logged 13 aces and 21 service points.
Chloe McIntire led the Lady Cays in kills with four, and Ashley Thomson and Shannon Clark each had one. Thomson also had six digs. Morgan Nelson had seven service points ? including two aces ? and four assists for Galva.
The Lady Cats suffered two non-conference volleyball setbacks to Lincoln Trail Conference team last week.
On Sept. 9, host Princeville defeated the Lady Cats 25-13, 25-18.
Nelson and Ashley Thomson led the Lady Cats. Nelson had nine assists and five aces while Thomson had five digs and a block. Sam Novotny added four kills for Galva.
The two teams meet again Sept. 22 in Galva in a match that will count in the LTC standings.
Host Cambridge downed the Lady Cats 25-8, 25-13 on Sept. 11.
Leading the way for the Lady Cats with an all-around effort was Nicole Thomson. She had five assists, three kills, two aces and two blocks.
Ashley Thomson also had three kills for Galva while Novotny contributed six digs and McIntire added two blocks.
