Golfers' first victory an easy one

The Galva High School golf team picked up its first win of the season with a 196-246 win over the Cambridge Vikings at Valley View Country Club on Sept. 10.

The Wildcats’ Tauge Rux was the medalist on the day with a 42.

Brady Landis and Matt Pankau each shot 47s and Cody Wexell and Jacob Warner finished with 60s for the Wildcats.

The GHS golfers lost a three-team meet at Aledo’s Hawthorn Ridge on Monday. The hosts carded a 174, followed by United at 174 and Galva, 176.

Counting for Galva were Rux with 48, Landis and Pankau with 54, and Rachel Jeffries with 52.
