The Galva/Williams-field  fresh-soph football team got back on the winning track Monday night, scoring a shutout road win over Peoria Heights, 27-0.

After forcing a fumble on the opening kickoff, the Wildcats (2-2) drove right down the field, with sophomore Jesse Humphrey toting the ball in for the score. Freshman Matt Johnson’s extra point kick was good, and G-W led, 7-0.

In the second quarter, with time running out in the half, sophomore quarterback Jake McClintic found freshman wide receiver Kile Mott in the back corner of the endzone for another score. The extra point kick was blocked, but the ’Cats took a 13-0 lead into the break.

G-W never looked back from there, playing sound defense all night. They came up with two big second half interceptions, one each by McClintic and sophomore Tyler Carlson, who’s from Williamsfield.

G-W struck paydirt again in the third quarter with Matt Johnson carrying the ball in for the TD.

In the fourth quarter freshman running back Rob Peters got in on the scoring with a 1-yard plunge.

McClintic’s run for the two-point conversion capped the scoring.
