Grymonprez earns All-Conference honors

Orion golfer Lucas Grymonprez shot 81 to earn All-Conference status at the Olympic tournament on Monday, Sept. 29, at Highland Springs, Rock Island.Grymonprez tied for seventh place.

As a team, the Chargers came in fourth with a score of 357.

Devin Pettifer carded 86; Jake Dahl, 94; Jim Hills and Travis Fritz, 96 each; and Alex Gombert, 97.

The tournament capped a month that began with a dual featuring Orion and Rockridge on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Valley View near Cambridge.

Rockridge defeated Orion 169-191. The Chargers’ record slipped to 3-5.

Cole Swigen of Rockridge shot 38 to become the match medalist. Hills turned in a 45 to be the Orion medalist.

Pettifer and Grymonprez scored 48s; Dahl, 50; Fritz, 55; and Gombert, 57.

In a triangular on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Oak Run, Dahinda, Orion and Farmington tied at 177-177.

Elmwood-Brimfield shot 161 to defeat both Orion and Farmington.

Two golfers from Elmwood-Brimfield tied for match medalist.

Pettifer, Grymonprez and Hills all recorded 43s to earn Orion medalist honors.

Gombert carded 48; Dahl, 53; and Kyle Hoffman, 54.

Orion’s record slid to 3-7-1 with a 177-199 loss to Sherrard on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Pinnacle Country Club, Milan.

A Sherrard golfer received match medalist with a 42. 

Pettifer was the Orion medalist with 45.

Hills was the only other Charger to break 50. He shot 49.

Grymonprez’s card read 51; Dahl’s, 54; Fritz’s, 56; and Gombert’s, 58.

Orion picked up its fourth win of the season with a 176-182 victory over Rock Island on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Highland Springs, Rock Island.

Pettifer shot 40 to become both the match and Orion medalist. 

Grymonprez carded 43; Hills, 46; Dahl, 47; Gombert, 50; and Fritz, 51.

After a triangular on Monday, Sept. 22, at Erie Country Club, the Charger record stood at 5-8-1.

Erie defeated Orion 171-181, while the Chargers overcame the Galva Wildcats 181-190.

An Erie golfer turned in a 37 as match medalist. 

Grymonprez’s 42 led the Chargers, who got 43 from Pettifer, 46 from Hills, 50s from Dahl and Gombert and 52 from Fritz.

At Hawthorn Ridge a day later, host Aledo beat Orion 168-181. Rockridge edged Orion 179-181.

Aledo had the match medalist, who shot 38.

Dahl became the Orion medalist with a 43.

Other Chargers and their scores were Gombert, 45; Grymonprez, 46; Pettifer, 47; Fritz, 48; and Hills, 49.

The two teams that call Valley View home clashed there on Wednesday, Sept. 24. 

Orion prevailed 169-234.

Grymonprez finished with 40 to earn both match and Orion medalist honors.

Pettifer turned in 41; Fritz, 42; Hills and Dahl, 46; and Gombert, 48.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, Orion split with Sherrard and Knoxville at Pinnacle.

Sherrard totaled 167; Orion, 183; and Knoxville, 198.

The Tigers had the match medalist, who shot 41.

Hills and Grymonprez tied for Orion honors with 44s.

Pettifer had a 46; Dahl, a 49; and Fritz and Gombert, 51s.

The Chargers finished the season at 7-11-1.
