Post 727 returns from EP with pair in pocket

The Oneida Legion Post 727 baseball team swept host East Peoria in a doubleheader 6-1 and 13-2 in five innings on Tuesday.

Trevor McCarthy went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI in both games to lead Oneida.

In the first game, Oneida plated the only two runs it would need in the first inning and added two insurance runs in the second and one each in the fifth and sixth innings.

Caleb Seibert drove in two runs on a 2-for-4 effort. Alex Ott pitched the distance for the win. He allowed two hits, three walks and fanned seven.

Oneida exploded for six runs in the second and plated four runs in the fifth in the nightcap to complete the sweep.

Casey Schuermann went 1-for-2 with three RBIs to lead Oneida’s scoring. Tyler Carlson connected for three hits and drove in a run.

Ky Paxson took the win on the mound and gave up three hits, four walks and struck out three in five innings pitched.

Post 727 improved to 4-4.
