Orion-Sherrard earns All-Area recognition

Ten Orion-Sherrard soccer players received recognition from the Dispatch and Rock Island Argus.

Avery Kool and Angela Schmedt were named to the All-Area team.

Jamie Harrington, Kayla Fowler, Cassie Barham, Ellen Garrity, Lauren Herkes, Janel Cross,

Teddra Mettlin and Hannah Larson all received honorable mention.

At the postseason banquet, Kool was named the Most Valuable Player on offense. She led the team in goals with 14 and also notched five assists.

Goalkeeper Schmedt was the team’s Most Valuable Player on defense.

Schmedt tallied eight shutouts, finishing her career with 30. She allowed only 12 goals in 16 games for a goals-against average of .75.

Harrington received the Pride award for her dedication. She contributed four goals and six assists.

Fowler’s teammates voted her Most Improved. She was credited with five goals and six assists.

Barham chipped in seven goals and two assists.

Garrity’s totals were two goals and six assists.

Herkes put in two scores and passed for two more.

Cross had three goals.

Mettlin fired two balls to the back of the net, and she connected with a teammate for three more goals.

Larson had one goal and one assist.
