On Saturday, May 16, the girls track team participated in the Monmouth-Roseville Sectionals.

Seventeen teams attended one of the most difficult sectionals in the state with Cambridge placing 15th. While no one advanced to the state meet, there were some highlights.

Jessica Nail took fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:34.19 and later took eighth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:08.86.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Amy Henry, Jennifer Saulnier, Stephanie Williams, and Michelle Williams placed 11th overall with a time of 57.67 and the same girls were on the 4x200 meter relay and placed 10th with a time of 2:0.94.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Kayla VanWatermeulen, Michelle Williams, Stephanie Williams and Jessica Nail placed 11th with a time of 4:42.89.

In field events, Dana DeSutter and Kalli Humphrey placed 9th and 13th in the triple jump with leaps of 30-9 and 30-4 1/4. Then with a school record breaking throw of 106-2, Danyelle English took fourth place, just short of the state qualifying distance of 107-6.

"I am so proud of the effort each one of the girls put forth Saturday and our results from the meet just gives us something to build off of going in to next season," commented Coach Haley Wirth.

“The girls had a good season and are all ready for what next year will bring.”
